Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha is a lake at the bottom of the Rift Valley on the way from Nairobi to Nakuru in Kenya. Most of the lakes at the bottom of the Rift Valley are salt lakes that contain a lot of soda, but for some reason only Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake. As a result, Lake Naivasha attracts a large number of water birds. Many migratory birds come here to escape the cold, especially during winter in Europe.
Lake Naivasha Tours
There are several Naivasha day-tours available from Nairobi. However, many of them include the visit to Hell's Gate National Park and/or Mount Longonot. If you like to stay in and around Lake Naivasha for birwatching, then choose a private tour. Or "3 Days Birdwatching Safari", which includes the visits to Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and even Lake Bogoria, is recommended for birdwatchers.

This pelican was photographed from a boat on Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha has a hotel called Lake Naivasha Lodge where you can enjoy bird watching from a boat. Lake Naivasha Lodge is also an easy day trip from Nairobi, so it is possible to arrange a day trip to enjoy the boat ride and the lodge's buffet lunch.

Although you can see some wildlife such as zebras and antelopes on foot near Lake Naivasha, Naivasha is primarily a place to go birdwatching.
