African Vultures
Vultures are a familiar sight on safari. They are so-called scavengers who process the carcasses of animals. There are several species of vultures in East Africa, and if you look closely, you will see that they differ in size.
This is Egyptian vulture. Many of you have seen the scene on TV where the vultures break eggs by hitting them with stones and eat them. Unfortunately, I have not seen such scene yet.
This is a Nubian Vulture, which is also named after a place. You may not notice it in the photo, but it is quite a large bird.
The word "vulture" may sound dirty. Take a look at this Ruppell's Vulture. They have beautiful feathers.
This is a less attractive White-backed Vulture. It is the most common type, although it does not have many characteristics.
Here is another White-headed Vulture with a white face and red beak. This one is rare and rarely seen.
