African snipe and sandpiper
Snipe and sandpiper species are in Africa year-round, but many are migratory birds from Europe. And that there are so many different species and that they look a lot alike! There are no illustrated books of European birds, and many of them cannot be identified. So some of them may be mistaken or assumed to be the same species.
This is african snipe. It is too small to recognize.
This is a common sandpiper that is present year round. It is a very small bird.
This is a migratory bird, a green sandpiper.
This is probably another migratory bird, marsh sandpiper.
I do not know what this is. Can someone please tell me what it is?
This is probably Common Greenshank.
This is probably a juvenile ruff or an adult femal winter plumage.
This is probably a bird called turnstone. You can't tell from the photo. Actually, there are also seagulls in the mix.
This is a wood sandpiper. This is also a migratory bird.
They are migratory birds, so you will have to check European illustrated books to find out what they are.
There are various birds mixed in, but what I want to show here is the line in the middl. It is an avocet.
