Hornbills in Africa
There are many hornbills in Africa. They are large birds and impressive.
This is a large hornbill with a magnificent beak, the Silvery-cheeked Hornbill. The photo was taken in the garden of my apartment in Nairobi. It is also often seen in Arusha National Park, Tanzania.
It is called Black and White Casqued Hornbill. This is also a large one, but it is so far away that the photo turned out to be terrible.
This is also far away! I took this picture somewhere when I first came to Tanzania.
This is called Crowned Hornbill. This group does not have a hump on its beak.

This is a beautiful Jackson's Hornbill. It was taken in Baringo, Kenya.
This is a Yellow-billed Hornbill, but the yellow beak is indistinguishable from the background.

These two birds are Ground Hornbills, which have a slightly different ecology than other hornbills. They mainly walk on the ground and catch insects to eat. They are very humorous birds to watch.
