African Barbets
There are many species of barbets in Africa. Some are beautiful, some have rather dull colors. All barbets have thick beaks and it is quite fun to watch barbets.
This is a d'arnaud's barbet that live in savanna. Size of d'arnaud's barbet is smaller than a dove.
This is a small barbet called red-fronted barbet. As the name implies, red-fronted barbet has a red spot on its forehead.
This is a white-headed barbet, which has white head and tail. This photo was taken in Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. There are some varieties in color and some have a black tail.
This is a Red and Yellow barbet. This is a beautiful bird with red and yellow. It is usually nesting in termite mounds as the photo shows.
